Alex O'Loughlin as Dr. Andy Yablonski in the new medical drama "Three Rivers" - CBS

I didn’t know anything about Alex O’Loughlin when I first started following the progress of “The Back-up Plan” – but all you nice Alex fans out there convinced me.  Yesterday, there was a write-up on film.com by Susan Young.  She seems like she is a certified fan now, too.  It is a pretty flattering piece, centering mostly on “Three Rivers” and the lead up to that show.  I am pretty sure there is a reference to some of the fans I’ve met through this process:
Alex says, “…hundreds and hundreds of letters, from people who know so much about you…” There is more, but you’ll have to read the original to get the context :P
Hopefully the show will do well…the article does disclose that the form-fitting garb will be gone…my sister will be bummed.

Contest 3: Moonlight The Complete Series on DVD

August 28th, 2009

OK folks.  If I had been more timely, this would have coincided with Alex’s birthday.  However, I am not timely.  Some people call me Timmy, but that is only passingly similar.  And really, I should be more timely, I do work for a watch company.
moonlightAnyway, here it is, “Moonlight” on DVD!  My guess is that some of you out there already own this.  But for those who don’t, it would be a great way to get to know Alex in a great role.  Also, it is a proven fact that by watching a vampire series on TV, you become more hip and cool, and possibly more sexy.  Some viewers  may develop a sensitivity to sunlight.  Plus, your uppity friends who like “Twilight” and go on and on about “True Blood” will have something to borrow.
Here is the info from the back of the DVD: Any private eye knows a lot about other people’s secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) has a secret of his own. He’s a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring), memories of the alluring ex- wife (Shannyn Sossamon) who turned him into a vampire, and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect – and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire-human romance is eternally dangerous. This 16-episode, 4-disc set of the series voted the 2008 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama is a sure entertainment bet for all who like their vampire stories sleek, intense and passionate.

And this is my end of a phone call with my mom about ‘Moonlight”: No mom, sorry this does not star Cybill Shepperd or Bruce Willis…I know you loved that show, but this is different.  Well, Alex is a detective, so maybe you will like it.  Yes, I agree, it was a smart show.  Chemistry? Bruce did have more hair then.   Maybe it was the best detective show.  I know, I know, “Remington Steele” was also great.  And you were right, he did make a great Bond.  What?  I don’t remember.  Oh…the brothers…um, “Simon & Simon” I think, yeah, that was good, too.  I’m not sure why they don’t write them like that anymore, maybe they have better writers now…No, I wasn’t being sarcastic…or mean.  No.  Ok.  Yes.  Murder She Wr…look, I have to go now, bye.

Oh, the contest rules are: post a comment in this thread.  on 9/18/09, i will round up the comments, run them through my patented Excel Randomizer, and the randomly chose winner will be contacted.  US residents of legal age only.  Good Luck!

Happy Birthday Alex O’Loughlin

August 24th, 2009

Happy birthday Alex O’Loughlin.  On your birthday, to a person who is 399 days older than I am, phenomenally more attractive than I, significantly more successful than I can hope to be in the next year, and by all accounts an incredibly nice and decent person…hey, whoa, let’s change course.

How about…Congrats on the year you’ve had, good luck in the year ahead, Cheers and Slainte and Happy Birthday!

A few weeks ago, woot had a shirt that is perfect for Alex’s new show, so I snagged a few and I dropped a line to Alex’s agency to see if he’ll accept them as a gift.  I think they’d make a good wardrobe choice for the show, too:

Get it?

Get it?

So, that is our present to you Alex.
Over at AlexOLoughlin.org, they’ve put together a bunch of birthday wishes.  They have charity donations, banner contest winnders, video contest winners, and some well-wishing.  Go check it out!
