OK folks. If I had been more timely, this would have coincided with Alex’s birthday. However, I am not timely. Some people call me Timmy, but that is only passingly similar. And really, I should be more timely, I do work for a watch company.
Anyway, here it is, “Moonlight” on DVD! My guess is that some of you out there already own this. But for those who don’t, it would be a great way to get to know Alex in a great role. Also, it is a proven fact that by watching a vampire series on TV, you become more hip and cool, and possibly more sexy. Some viewers may develop a sensitivity to sunlight. Plus, your uppity friends who like “Twilight” and go on and on about “True Blood” will have something to borrow.
Here is the info from the back of the DVD: Any private eye knows a lot about other people’s secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) has a secret of his own. He’s a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring), memories of the alluring ex- wife (Shannyn Sossamon) who turned him into a vampire, and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect – and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire-human romance is eternally dangerous. This 16-episode, 4-disc set of the series voted the 2008 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama is a sure entertainment bet for all who like their vampire stories sleek, intense and passionate.
And this is my end of a phone call with my mom about ‘Moonlight”: No mom, sorry this does not star Cybill Shepperd or Bruce Willis…I know you loved that show, but this is different. Well, Alex is a detective, so maybe you will like it. Yes, I agree, it was a smart show. Chemistry? Bruce did have more hair then. Maybe it was the best detective show. I know, I know, “Remington Steele” was also great. And you were right, he did make a great Bond. What? I don’t remember. Oh…the brothers…um, “Simon & Simon” I think, yeah, that was good, too. I’m not sure why they don’t write them like that anymore, maybe they have better writers now…No, I wasn’t being sarcastic…or mean. No. Ok. Yes. Murder She Wr…look, I have to go now, bye.
